Hello my little potatoes. You’re probably all (not) wondering about me and my absence. Well I’ve been in my car a lot as shown here. Red lips, sunglasses, and raised eyebrows. It’s all I’ve got. I’ve been at work A … Continue reading →
As I’ve said before…I’m blind as a bat. I’ve gotten the hang of getting awkwardly close to a mirror in order to do my liner and eyeshadow…as well as the checks in-between each blend pulling the glasses down, checking, rechecking…etc. But sometimes my eyes and hands just don’t want to cooperate.
Those are the days I use…
Method 2- Scotch tape liner
Scotch tape can be used for many different eye make up things. You can make sure you don’t go too over zealous with the eyeshadow and end up blending it to your cheeks (works exceptionally well with smoky eyes), use it to have a very defined outer “v”/shadow line, or to guide your gel liner to the perfect winged liner. I also suggest you just try this with either eyeshadow, cake liner, or gel liner. Liquid liner gets a bit…messy. Is it doable? of course…you just may need to clean up more. Even still this a tool I suggest you try at some time in your life.
Ages ago I said I’d show you lovelies some ways I use to do my winged liner. There are, seriously, so many ways to do it. I think it all depends on what you’re comfortable with, how long you’ve done it, and what just works for you/your eye shape…blahblahblah.
I think it would be a true statement for me to say that I never know how I’m going to do my liner until I get to that point in my face. Sometimes I use 2 different methods on each eye just to make things even. It’s always a surprise.
As I set up to do this…a lot of thoughts crossed my mind:
– how easy do I want to make it?
– how can I break this down in steps?
– what product did I want to use (liquid, gel, pencil, marker)?
– what have I gotten myself into??!
Then I thought might as well make it a series that includes 2 different types of liner application and false lashes. If there’s any more you’d like me to add to it, definitely let me know!
I remember when I was little I truly disliked going to North Carolina. Granted by the time I got there I was fine because most of my cousins were there, but still was not a fan. I’d pack up some of my favorite Barbies in a Barbie traveling box (because I was fancy), as well as coloring books, and just a whole bunch of crap. Who knows how much I actually lost while down there but I felt I needed it.
The only time I didn’t go as crazy with it (Barbies always went…) was Powwow. It was a really big deal and I absolutely loved Powwow…still do. PowWow was such a big deal that we got to pick out a new outfit for the occasion…like it was Easter (maybe that’s just my family but Easter church you got new dress, shoes, hat, gloves, and frilly socks…big deal). For Powwow I’d always save up my pennies to buy trinkets that I thought was cool: dream catcher, kid drums, feather hair clips, cheap jewelry…pea shooters. I guess what I’m saying is it was more about being little and shopping around and eating fry bread.
Now it’s more of a chance to visit family (my family is HUGE),to get to know my elders and learn even more about our culture and traditions. To just…understand.
It was a sad week in beauty for me.
After my trip to North Carolina (which I’ll be posting more on…just wanted to balance out my blog a little bit with travel and beauty…) I had to face the facts that things weren’t working out between me and my shower cap. This was the second one I had owned of the same kind. the first was a Christmas present that met its end thanks to a cat putting it in the toilet and my dad running it in the wash…and the second my mom got as gratis when she worked at Macy’s. It was from Benefit and it met my showering needs. Kept my hair dry (for the most part), was cute (duh), and fit my love for retro and pin-ups. But it’s been falling apart for a while. And I’ve had random wavy bits of hair…for a while.
But I was in denial.
I had to face the facts that it was not doing its job protecting my hair for the 5 days I go without washing (don’t give me that look…totally normal!) and say….
Bathina shower cap…it’s over. I’m breaking up.
Who knows how this post will go…it’s all over the place. Either way this past weekend I headed on my usual pilgrimage (interesting word choice Audrey…) down to North Carolina for my tribes annual PowWow. This is the part that I verify to you all that yes…my lily white complexioned, curly light brown hair, green-eyed self…is, in fact, a full blooded Native American.
don’t question it…I’ve had to deal with that my whole life and I have a tribal card and identification number as proof. But I don’t need to prove that to anyone
Hi all! I’ve been way too busy lately I guess…I had my work conference and then travelled to North Carolina for my tribes PowWow this past long weekend. Needless to say I’ve been a bit all over the place. My … Continue reading →
So this is what I’m dealing with right now. Dry patches of swollen bumps in the exact location I applied my eye cream/gel.
It graciously runs under my eyes both my eyes, across the bridge of my nose, and some above my lid. I even spot checked this both on my forearm and behind my ear. No issue, no reaction.
Needless to say- its itching like hell and I want to scratch my eyes out. I’d also like to note that my skin is even MORE dry than usual and AND its flakey and tight and just….it’s being rude is what it is,
How the hell am I suppose to be cute at a conference in DC with some decent looking fellas with the plague ravishing my face.
Needless to say you’ll be getting a review of the product later…actually probably not because I’m not putting it anywhere near me.
I’m sitting in DC for a library conference (go ahead…laugh..I’ll wait) with an awesome free cup of water (because let’s be real how often do you get free stuff in DC…maybe a foot fungus from a rough night out and you decide to way without shoes on…ok I’m rambling) and decided to work on some bloggie things between sessions.
So in that time…
Go ahead and give me a follow aaaand let me know if you did in the comments! Also if you have any tips or tricks with it leave that too!
Also- there will most likely be a people watching post coming up. Not sure if photos will be involved I’m not sure what kind of stealth I possess just yet. But it’s off the chain here with the people watching…
In other news- I tried a Bliss eye cream last night and have hivey bumps all around my eyes. Thank goodness my glasses pretty much cover it and don’t intensify the situation…my special eyes…
Am I the only person that reads or watches a video on a 5 minute face and thinks bs? Maybe it’s just me. Maybe I just feel like I need a certain amount of thingies on my face for it to be “ok”. I mean…do they factor in letting moisturizer, eye cream, and primer to sink in? That’s at least 6 minutes right there! Whenever I’ve tried to rush the process I end up looking a hot mess a couple hours later. And I’m not a fan of touch ups or hauling my whole arsenal with me.
Truth be told, I don’t wear makeup on a daily basis. My full time job is just really, well, grubby and there have been days when I use a cleaning wipe or wash my face midday. It is a dusty library…you’re going to get dirty. But sometimes I have to go to my part time job straight from there or head out with friends and I just want to be…presentable.
So this here is my quick/lazy/run out the door/ missed my 4th snooze face.
